INTERVIEW: MADRASAH HUSNILADAB ALBARAKIY PROFILE

By: Salimon Quadri, Quazeem Abduljaleel Sheikh Hassan Bn Abdurrasheed Ikegbami Albarakiy is credited as being one of the first to establish an Arabic and Islamic institution in Mushin, Lagos, in 1995. In this interview, he discusses how it came to be, as well as his goals and aspirations. Excerpts:   What year did the institution open its doors? The madrasah was founded in 1995 and was previously known as Madrasatu Ikegbami Li-Dirasatil Adabiyyah wal-Islamiyyah before being renamed Madrasatu Husnil Adab Albarakiy on November 25, 2000. What are the establishment's goals and objectives? The main goal was to follow in the footsteps of the forerunners after it is well known that all is with the intention of sacrificing to the course of Allah. How many students did the madrasah have when it first opened? In 1995, there were roughly 30 pupils available. HIJRAH1443: Sultan Declares Tuesday as 1st of Muharram

Salimon Quadri The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Tuesday, August 10, as the first day of Muharram, 1443 AH. The declaration is contained in a statement issued on Sunday, August 8, by the NSCIA Director of Administration,  Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu. “His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, after considering the report of the National Moon Sighting Committee, has d eclared Tuesday, 10th of August, 2021 as the 1st day of Muharram, 1443 AH", the statement read. Nevertheless, two Southwest States and  more Northern States   have declared Monday, August 9, a work free day for the Muslims to celebrate the new Hijrah year, 1443 AH.

Hajj 2021: Saudi Kingdom Limits Hajj to Residents

By: Salimon Quadri The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has on Saturday, announced the number of pilgrims that will participate in the 1442/2021 Hajj and the start for the registration. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah limited the participants to 60,000 from its citizens and residents only to perform the pilgrimage due to the "rising COVID-19 cases". It was noted from the statements of the ministry that "those who intend to participate in Hajj need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with at least one dose or have recovered from COVID-19 infection in the last 6 months." According to the Kingdom, the 60,000 pilgrims will start registration on the portal at 1pm on Sunday, 3rd Dhul Qadah, 1442 which corresponds 13th June, 2021. BREAKING: Buhari Grants NTA "Revealing and Educating" Interview

By: Salimon Quadri The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) will be broadcasting a "revealing and educating interview" with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday night. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina confirmed this in a statement on Friday afternoon. Part of the statement reads: "President Muhammadu Buhari grants Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) an exclusive interview, from 8:30pm, Friday, June 11, 2021". Added in the statement is, "it promises to be revealing and educating. Kindly keep a date." The interview holds a day after Buhari visited Lagos on Thursday for the inauguration of the 157-kilometer Lagos-Ibadan standard rail project at the Mobolaji Johnson railway station in Ebutte Metta.

Can I recite Qur'an during menstruation?

All praises is to Allah (swt), the Lord of the universe, the Best among the fashioner, Creator of rational colours, may His abundant blessings be upon the last prophet -Muhammad (saw). Ar-rosul (pbuh), said in one of his Hadiths, "Verily, Allah is the most Pure and he won't accept anything (I.e  ibadah)  from his creations, except pure ones. Shari'ah (Islamic religious laws) has mentioned and treated the issue of menstruating women to a clearer way.  Recitation of the Quran by menstruating women brought about different understandings among the four Imams' School of Thought. The Mālikiy scholars maintained the permissibility that one can recite Qur'an until bleeding stops during the period. Qur'an is the fourth and last sacred book of Allah (SWT) that was sent upon the last prophet, Muhammad within the period of thirteen and ten years in Makkah and Madinah respectively. It is a distinctive book among all others due to the divine safety it possesses.
